we've been buying sacks of rice at Asian Pok Market but we're finding it a bit expensive. Would anyone know where you can get it cheaper?

Transportation costs have risen considerably in recent years which means everything is costing more. The US cannot hope to occupy little countries spending half a trillion a year on a military or more in which to do so, while creating a larger and larger welfare state at home and not expect to pay the price for it.

We are paying the price for it.

And judging by the latest polls, it looks like there's a lot more of this on the way.

Meanwhile live in Cebu doesn't look too bad although with the dollar plummeting and showing no signs of reversal, it doesn't go as far.

Try Sams. How Ironic that we used to produce enough to export, now even imports are becoming pricey

Try Costco although you probably will not find the Asian brand that you want, if that is important. It might be Uncle Bens?

The price of rice has risen dramaticaly in the past year because of the heavy damage to rice crops due to flooding and tropical cyclones in Burma, Bangladesh, Viet Nam, and a couple of other Asian countries that export the majority of the worlds rice last year. It has nothing to do with politics.

Sam's Club or BJ's (and probably Costco too) have good prices on rice. I buy a huge bag of Basmati rice for $15-$20 -- it's in plastic inside a burlap type bag, about 15 lbs.
