Collier county schools suck. At least when I went there. I went to Lely in the early 2000s and hated it and so did most others. I went to a couple different elem schools and middle schools in the county.

IMO the problem is that it's an older population in Collier and they're more focused on issues that concern them and schools are not on the top of the list as they don't have children in the system. Florida schools are crap.

It's improved a lot.......

Collier school district graded A, ranked fifth by Florida Department of Education

The school district is one of 11 out of 67 to receive an A rating from the Florida Department of Education.
The district now is ranked fifth in the state, a big improvement from 2011, when it was 33rd. Collier ranked 14th last year.

BU FL standards it might have improved, but compared to other states, FL schools are still lacking.

How States Compare in the 2017 Best High Schools Rankings

A state-by-state breakdown of the 2017 Best High Schools rankings shows that Maryland is the leading performer for the third year in a row. This state-by-state performance rating is solely based on which states have the largest proportion of their high schools earning gold and silver medals.

This year, 27.5 percent of Maryland's eligible schools earned gold and silver medals from U.S. News. Florida came in second with 24.4 percent

I'd have to question those rankings, especially when you got MD so high when we know Baltimore which makes up a big chunk of that state is a dump. Baltimore is almost as bad as Detoilet.

So where are the good schools then? I moved here from Long Island where there are high taxes and lauded school districts (all 125+ of them) and I haven’t noticed a material difference for my kids. If anything the teachers here are more motivated and engaged and the administration more hands-on and welcoming...

My understanding is that
Vineyards Elementary School
Osceola Elementary School
Pelican Marsh Elementary School
are all good, while
Poinciana Elementary School
Big Cypress Elementary School
are poor.

It's strange because it's showing a big difference between the two groups of schools - not 1 or 2 points different, but 4 or 5 (out of 10).

I think I saw a couple years ago the high school I went to, whites are a minority there now.
