I did not hear whether they wanted any upfront money, but I would expect something would be required.

Be very careful about paying a lot of $ up front. I neighbor of mine got ripped off for $20k doing so.

Some due dilligence I did for just a $3,000 lanai screen in:

I did an extensive web search on the company name and owners name

I drove by their place of business to see how extensive it was and if it appeared they had been there for a while

I called the better business bureau

I called the chamber of commerce since they showed the chamber emblem on their web site

I asked for a copy of their insurance certificate, then called their agent to make sure the policy was current

I asked for 2 recent referrals from jobs just completed, & I called both.

After this all checked out, I gave them 1/3rd up front $1,000 and used a credit card so I'd have 90 days to dispute the charge if something went awry since me job was to be completed win 90 days. You wont have that luxury.

I didnt get their contractor number and call the state to make sure legit, but if I were building a pool I would do that too.

Best thing to do is go through a finance company that pays the pool company progress payments as you go.
That way there's some control over releasing moneys to them per your satisfaction.
In other words before the finance company releases a payment, they ask you if there are any issues and complaints before they release funds.
Of course if you wanted to pay it all upfront you can do that when its all said and done before the monthly payments kick in.

I used Lyon Financial.

Being Naples do some of the companies charge more down there than lets say Arcadia?

Why even need a large pool? Especially living in Naples where it's warmer. Late April to the end of Oct the Gulf is usually warm enough to swim down there anyway. For the cooler months just have a smaller pool that's heated.

I don't have a pool, but a pool to me is something to cool off in after a long days work down here. I just don't see the need for a large pool. I'd just go to the club house pool or the beach to stretch out for a long swim. Small pool will do.
