I enjoy tuning in here occasionally for the truly amazing, constantly changing colors of sky, sand and sea -

Recently, something new has been added. I remember it being there before, temporarily, a year or two ago.
It's that small structure off the left end from the pier anchored by four legs in the water. It has a center shaft going down in the water and some equipment on the platform.
What in the world is it?
Today there were some workers on the pier and beach with surveying equipment.
I have an idea what it might be for, but just curious.
Btw, the sunsets are the best time imo for viewing the pier beach. Sky can turn golden. Sometimes there are so many people on the pier doing the same, you wonder how it remains standing.
