I'm sorry, but you're 23, you've been in the area for less than 6 years, doing real estate "work" in ground zero for the bubble for, what, maybe 3 years, and complain there are no "professional" jobs there? C'mon. Don't blame SW Florida. Get a degree in something and then look for a "career."

Trust in most parts of Florida a degree gets you a 12 dollar an hour job.

I would suggest learning to do something with your hands, learning a trade, like electricity or plumbing (just examples), and go into business.

Chances are that you will not prosper going forward as a pencil-pusher or a wage-earner.

Alternatively, as mentioned, you would need a good career, like in legal, medicine or accounting/taxation, which in most cases requires a good number of years in university-level education, but if you have to go into heavy debt, it may not be worth it (a good electrician, plumber or even pesticide specialist can earn in the $100k area or more).

In either case, put your nose to the grindstone and produce something real and useful, save, and invest in your own productive business or other real businesses that to you are tangible.

I would also suggest, being that your in construction, moving to a place like NC or TX where jobs are still (somewhat) available. In FL? Very hard to come by.

I think Tampa has a larger and younger middle class and less of that pretentious BS you don't want to deal with. You may like some nicer parts of Orlando like Winter Park or College Park, but I would not say there are a lot of professional jobs though, definitely not corporate. These two metros have the best real estate bounce back at this time. Jacksonville overall has the most stable economy, but I cannot personally recommend it because I find it pretty dull and know too many people who moved away from there because they didn't like it. You should definitely not be bored in Tampa or Orlando, but you may miss the proximity to the beach if you chose Orlando. To completely avoid the arrogance, I would not choose South Florida, especially Broward or PB counties.
