In addition to RMD's link, I'd like to suggest calling a few local churches to ask if they know people who are willing to do odd jobs. Many churches have bulletin boards.

I have heard, but not seen for myself, some rent-a-truck companies that will provide help for a 'nominal fee' per hour.

Putting an ad on craigslist seems to be a popular option, base on the number of ads I see. Don't know that I would go that route. I like the church idea.
