No. If you must live in Florida, there has to be better places than Naples. Go to Bonita, or Estero.

There was a lot of construction going on in 2004 and 2005. There is NO construction going on there.

Further, your area has an unemployment rate of 9.2. Naples has a unemployment rate of 11.9.

And just to the north of Naples is the Fort Myers/Cape Coral area, where unemployment is almost 14 percent.

So no, you would have a much better chance of getting a job where you are now.

If you are desperate for a job and can easily pull up stakes (in other words you do not have a family, especially children) I would suggest Nebraska and both of the Dakotas. They have excellent unemployment rates. Parts of Iowa and Kansas are good, too. Some of those places have low costs of living, too.

If you have to be warm , there are parts of Texas with jobs. Try Amarillo, Bryan and Midland.

And heck, there are lots of areas all over this country with fairly decent unemployment rates, including Knoxville TN , but swFlorida is not one of them. If you must stay in Florida, go with Jacksonville, Gainesville and Tallahassee.

There is very little building construction going on in SW Florida right now. The recent I-75 widening project is just finishing up. There are also plenty of unemployed workers to fill any positions that do open up.

There is this project though. I'm guessing that they will need equipment operators. It is expected to be completed in 2017.

I wonder how many people show up for those jobs? The guy is still in school up there. Meanwhile, they are hiring people with YEARS of experience. The ones that haven't moved away to find more work, that it.

I know. Just trying to present a more positive outlook. Getting tired of people telling me that I'm negative all the time.

If his sister is here, he's probably coming no matter what we say anyway.

By having family here, you definitely have an advantage over a lot of other people that come down knowing nobody.
For one thing, your sister can help you find a place to live!
Good luck to you!
