We live west of I-65. We live much closer to Heritage Middle School and Independence High School. We have been zoned for Page Middle and Page High. Both of these are not only much farther away, but they are difficult to get to as there are few roads going that direction.

Sorry to hear that, Big TR. I'm feeling less jubilant this evening, having heard from families like yours who didn't get the school they wanted.

It's not so much the school that is the problem. We were already zoned for Page Middle and Independence, go figure.

My thing is I don't understand how a computer would make the larger group of high school people go farther than they currently go.

My kid is only in 2nd grade, so they'll probably re-align stuff again in 7 years.

Sorry TR. I just looked at the map and it's strange how Independence is barely in its own zone. I thought part of the rezoning was so children could go to schools that were really close to their homes.

One thing I thought I remember reading somewhere long ago when I was researching relocation to Nashville:

For a fee, and if there was room, you could send your kid to any high school in the county. You would just have to get them there and pick them up.

Anybody know if that the case?

They said open zoning would no longer be an option, as student redistribution was the sole reason for rezoning. Who knows, though. That could change.
