Looking to live near Nashville St and TN State (Charlotte: apartment complex, for rent)

Considering a move to Nashville for school. I would first be taking classes at Nashville State with intentions of transferring them to Tennessee St. I do have dogs, so apts may be an issue. My budget alone would be around 500-600. What are the ares around these campuses called? Thank you!

The area around Nashville State is called (loosely) West Nashville or Lion's Head (the shopping area nearby used to or may still be called Lion's Head...hence the name). Or sometimes just referred to as Thompson Lane. There is an apartment complex literally across the street from Nashville State but I don't know the pet policies, the name, or the price.

As for TSU, that area is generally referred to as Jefferson Street or just "TSU". That part of town can be very hit and miss and I don't know much about the apartment situation.

I would probably start looking around Charlotte Pike, which is kind of a middle ground between the two areas. Closer to Bellevue on Charlotte is a better part of town, but further away from TSU and Nashville State. I think that's a safer bet, honestly. Your commute time will be longer (maybe 15-20 minutes) but much safer. Plus, there are more apartments towards Bellevue.

Look in "The Nations" it's the area behind Charlotte Pike. Lots of cute homes for rent.
