According to RentLaw.com Tenn. has no law in place requiring owners to pay interest on security deposits but says cities can enact their own laws.

I'm assuming Nashville has no such rule. Can someone confirm please? Thanks!

I'm not aware of any city ordinance or provision in the Uniform Residential Landlord Tenant Act (which applies to Williamson and Davidson Counties) that mandates an owner of rental property to pay interest on the subject security deposit.

Have you found anything that did seem to indicate that for your property?

Hi Kevin. I was just asking because my husband (a former Californian) has been assuming the interest rule applied here too. We are entering into another lease and in this case all parties involved aren't sure of the local laws.

Thanks so much for clearing that up.

We can all get back to the corn pudding now!
