Yes, I'm aware of the other threads about this but none of them are recent.

I am a teacher with over 10 years of Elementary teaching experience and am considering a move to the Nashville area to start teaching again.

I have checked the vacancy list, but there is nothing yet for elemenatry.

I'm just wondering, are the Nashville Metro schools expected to do any hiring in Elementary Education? When do they typically start hiring? Should I just start e-mailing school principals to introduce myself and maybe stand out a little?

Any other school disctricts in the area?

Also, are there any Catholic schools in the area that might hire elementary teachers? I do have experience in religous education.

Thanks

When they hire depends, but in Williamson County they often hire late into the summer because a lot of principals have to wait to get the most accurate enrollment numbers.
Williamson is opening an entirely new elementary school in the fall called Clovercroft. The website is here:

Clovercroft Elementary

I would first be sure all proper general paperwork is filed with the county administrative office for all counties you are interested in and that you are certified in Tennessee. Meanwhile do contact the principal and very concisely introduce yourself.

Sorry I don't have direct experience with local Catholic schools.

There is a Catholic school system in the area, with several elementary/middle schools...no idea about hiring, though.

Emailing the individual schools in Metro would be a good start. Keep checking the vacancy list because it changes often. However, hiring goes on well into the fall due to changes in enrollement and if a teacher is not return they have until August to let the principals know.
