We just sold our house in the Cincinnati area yesterday and will be relocating to the Nashville area. We are in a bit of a hurry as we lose occupancy in 4-6 weeks and want to get settled before school starts so I don't have weeks to research as much as I'd like. That's where you guys come in...

Married couple with 4 kids from ages 9 to 15. Not interested in city living at all. Looking for a "nice" suburb. Number 1 priority is a great school district. We are looking for a house in the 200-250k range.

I will be telecommuting so top notch broadband/ISP is a must. Not too worried about the cost of the ISP but I need speed and reliability.

An area with lakes/waterfront would be nice to have but not a must have.

House requirements would be 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.

Thanks!

Based on your requirements, I would recommend Hendersonville. When you're on the general Nashville page, click on the "Search this forum" tab to the right and type in Hendersonville to see tons of threads on this topic.

I would add Franklin, for better schools, though it's farther from the lake and housing is priced higher.

Congrats on selling your home. I just read an article today that rated Dayton as the #4 worst housing market in the US (not that you said you were from there but ...). It's still an accomplishment!

Mt. Juliet is cool, but since the OP mentioned top notch broadband as a requirement, I would be hesitant to recommend Mt. Juliet. For whatever reason, MJ is stuck with this god-awful, horrendous TDS garbage. It may be the worst broadband service I have ever had; sometimes, I think dialup would be less trouble. If speed and reliability are important, steer far, far from any place that has TDS. It's absolutely worthless.

I don't know much about Hendersonville but it gets mentioned, with affection, a lot on this board. I checked Realtracs.com for houses in your price range in Franklin, where I live. Here is what popped up. I used $265,000 for the top end because there is ALWAYS some room for negotiation. I do know that the one on Prescott DOES have 4 bedrooms. It's the same house we bought. But it would be TIGHT as living room is tiny.

I looked at houses in Cincinnati before deciding on Nashville. More bang for your real estate dollar in Cincinnati BUT higher property taxes. More than double as I recall.

We moved in about 6 weeks too, it CAN be done! All the best!

OK, I have been overruled! Hendersonville is in Sumner county and here are the houses available. It would not let me put in the half bath so you will have to read listing.
