I may be taking a job in Hohenwald and have some questions. The town is a little too small for me so I'm looking at Columbia. How would the commute between Hohenwald and Columbia be? I would be coming from the north and have lived in suberbia most of my life. Would I be in for a huge culture shock? I have 2 young kids (4 and 2) so would want to live in an area where a good elepmentary school is located. As for real estate I would be looking for a home with at least 4 bedrooms and around 3000 sq ft on 1-2 acres. How much would I be looking at and what is a good estimate on the taxes? Finally everyone is teasing me that I would be living with a bunch of "bible thumpers". Not that there is anything wrong with that but does that statement paint an accurate picture?

Thank You

It would be worth the drive to buy something in southern Williamson County.

I agree. I don't know your housing budget, as that much land could be expensive in the county, but with your kids heading for school before you know it, Williamson County (Franklin, Fairview) would be a nice location and not a bad commute.

Sorry your friends have been frightening you with stereotypes. In fact, you WILL be living around a lot of Bible thumpers here. Most don't actually thump YOU with it, though.

I looked at Spring Hill and it looks promising, especially the school system. The commute to hohenwald wouldn't be too bad? Approximately how long?

make sure you are on the Williamson side. There should be no traffic to speak of once you get on the highway so probably 30 minute commute.

We have lived North of Columbia for 1.5 years (retired) and love it here, but if I had young children I would find a place in Williamson CO. (I am a retired teacher and watch what's going on education-wise here.)
