The money you put in when you get your first job (and this is ABOVE any that MIGHT be offered by your employer) has 40 or 50 years to grow. You'd be amazed. If you start with $1,000 and put $100 a month in for 40 years at 5% interest you'll have $160,000.

If you do that for 50 years you'll have $280,000! And that's just $100 a month.

Historically interest is 7% so I am being conservative. Anyway, you'll be glad you did, really. And you sound like a SMART Kidd right off the bat.

Thank you so much! I learned alot of things about saving and investing money in my personal finance class the year before last. The teacher was wonderful in explaining the importance of saving and living within your means. Retirement money is very important. In the future I also hope to also put some money into other investments, and allow it to grow into BIG money.
