Even though it is not upscale, I could picture an Olive Garden doing well in the Indian Lake area. Plenty far away from Rivergate, and so much safer.

Personally I think J. Alexander's is the best option for the September's location. It is something a bit different. Indian Lake already has Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Steakhouse, etc. I'm not a huge J. Alexander's fan myself but I think they're one of the only restaurants who could make the spot successful.

Hendersonville needs more business. There are a few too many restaurants for daytime hours, unless the employment number increases.

Wonder if they've thought about sectioning off the building so it could be rented out as 2 separate spaces if the rent is so high as one large space.

While a few other posters have hinted at it, I will come out and say it... I think significantly upgrading the infrastructure of Indian Lake/386 exchange should be considered a requirement before a store like Sam's Club opens its doors to the public - especially if a McD's is going to be right across the street from it. I share the excitement that ground is being broken on a number of intiatives in the area and that there is apparently a bright future for Indian Lake, but I fear the current infrastructure will end up being such a negative factor that it will ultimately drive people away, and not to, this retail center. I cannot imagine why anything less than what was built at New shackle would be thought of as sufficient considering the types of retail and mixed use planned for the IL corridor. Developing this upgrade while the economy is/was down is smart for a number for reasons, job creation and sustainment not the least of them.

I think fluid and easy to navigate roadways would be a draw for companies that run PF Changs, Cheesecake Factory, and other higher-end businesses that many seem to want in the area. I am all for it... I just think we need to get the horse in front of the cart.

Amen brother/sister. Amen. The ingress/egress right now is adequate enough to handle the traffic right now (barely) but that bridge has limits. It's only 2 lanes...you would think they need 4 since it is likely that the area will expand across the bypass at some point. You would think they would learn from Cool Springs and more recently Providence. Cool Springs is a great example of retail/commercial planning and expansion. Providence has had some growing pains, but at least the city planners are responding by widening Mt. Juliet Road. I don't see that happening in Hville.

And they most definitely need a red light at the exit ramp coming from the north side. It is very dangerous...I know I've said it before, but it will unfortunately take some tragedy like a carful of teenagers being t-boned for them to finally put up a stinking red light. The only logical thing I can think of for there not being a red light there is that they do have plans for expanding the intersection and perhaps increasing the capacity of the bridge somehow.

Wow, this is really exciting! I can't wait to see what they end up putting in up there.

Is Rivergate a dangerous area?

Rivergate is not dangerous, but there is more crime there and it feels a more rundown than Hendersonville is. I guess it depends on what you classify as "dangerous", but if you use common sense (lock your car doors, don't leave purses or valuables visible, don't be out at 2 am) it is not dangerous in my opinion.

There are a few places in Rivergate that I think are a bit questionable: The Wal-Mart, The Skate Center, and the movie theatres. Luckily Hendersonville has all of those things. Other than that, Rivergate feels fine to me. It's not new and shiny like Indian Lake but it seems to be doing well. The mall is always full and still has nice stores. It's nothing like Hickory Hollow.
