We are considering a home in Shelby Lane, Franklin Tennessee.
Can any one tell me about the area? Is this pretty rural or is it close to the city?
Thank you

Shelby Lane is on the other side of Leiper's Fork. It is very rural, very beautiful. It will take you at least an hour to get to downtown Nashville but I-840 is under construction and will soon have an entrance ramp on Pinewood Road and (I think) a ramp at Bending Chestnut. That will cut your drive time in half........

You mentioned this is a very rural place. Does it mean that in order to find a grocery store or a gas station I would have to drive many miles? Are there any other closer place I could go (not only Nashville) Like for example a downtown in Franklin or in Columbia?

You would need to drive to Franklin or Columbia for a supermarket. I don't know how long it takes to get to Columbia but it is about 30 minutes to get to Franklin. Franklin has everything you could possibly need plus the best mall in mid-Tenn.
