I drove home the other night down Franklin Road and south of the 'town' of Brentwood are entrances to some very nice subdivisions and the CHRISTMAS LIGHTS just at the entrances were gorgeous! There is one house that defines "curb appeal" - it's always got spotlights on it (must be hard to sleep with all that light coming in the windows . . ) but it's really decked out for Christmas.

Seems to be a red/white/blue theme this year? I have NOT tried driving down the streets of those subdivisions, not sure if they are gated . . but really worth driving past even just on Franklin Road.

Here is MY pride and joy. He's about 18 inches high and looks out the bonus room window . . . . Please add any neighborhoods you pass worth a drive!

Oh, also near the Berry's Chapel Church (Berry's Chapel & Hillsboro) has a huge (30 feet?) tree decked in lights that is quite impressive.

My Elf:

I don't know if they are up this year, but in years past there have been some impressive displays on Old Charlotte Pike off 96W, in that subdivision off Liberty Pike between Mack Hatcher & Mallory Lane, and at the end of the Sunnyside subdivision off Hillsboro Pike.

There are a few impressive displays up on 96W just beyond the intersection of 96W and Old Hillsboro heading towards the Natchez trace.

we just bought tickets for one of those Christmas lights tours by bus. Anyone taken that before? I think I should have asked before buying.

I am going on the Holly Trolly in Franklin. Which bus tour are you on? I'm sure they will be fun. Any time I don't have to drive I am happy!

That's the "official" night that Brentwood neighborhoods are supposed to have luminaries out, but there is no official city-sponsored tour.

Any tour you might take buy bus or limo, you would need to arrange through a private company.

Can you just drive through on your own then? Any sections better than others to view with some rugrats in the van?

Oh, yeah, you can just drive around town. There aren't that many gated neighborhoods in Brentwood. If you head south down Franklin Road, you can see some decent lights just past the intersection with Murray Lane. Princeton Hills is fun to gawk at, and Heathrow Hills has a couple of good yards.

It's hard to say which neighborhoods will participate in the luminary display. A lot depends on the weather.
