Like you will find in any area of explosive growth, there are better schools and weaker ones. I have an employee who happens to be from a Williamson School (I won't say), and her writing skills are subpar. She went to a reputable college and earned a degree. So the case can be made that Williamson schools did what they are supposed to do: get her into college. Also, you have the most growth of any county in Williamson, and it is just a fact that you cannot keep the same high standards as you grow. I used to live in Collin County, TX... and Cobb County, GA. They also once had the "best schools" in the state, but do not anymore.

Also, for all their plaudits, generally speaking county schools ANYWHERE will not be on par with the private academic schools. Fortunately, the Nashville area has a wealth of very good academic privates... such as MBA, Ensworth, Harpeth Hall, St. Cecilia, Brentwood Academy, Franklin Road, Ryan, JPII, Nashville University School... and several more.

All of the suburban systems have budget issues. I found the Sumner schools in Hendersonville to be excellent and even though I don't have need for them now the news seems to be good from there. They are adding an IB high school program in 2013 with plans to expand to elementary and middle schools. They are also introducing a new themed high school program creating specialized programs at each county high school for the arts, engineering, math, health science, and information technology at each of the high schools with those programs offering open enrollment to all students in the county.
