I am currently in the Knoxville area and am thinking about relocating to the Nashville area in January/February 2008. I will be taking real estate classes in November to obtain my licensure. I know that things can be really tough your first year as a newbie agent, but I have planned accordingly with my finances. I am actually debating either Nashville or Atlanta. Both are within 3.5 hours and would be a fairly easy move, but Atlanta's real estate market seems to be really struggling right now with alot of foreclosures.

Are there any agents out there with any suggestions, tips, comments, etc?

Thanks in advance.

Lyn

Just a comment. There are a lot of houses on the market in Nashville now. The prices haven't been reduced, but builders of new homes are throwing in some freebies.

hey anilyn,
I was licensed in CA...and recently moved here and got my license.
You are correct....that it is very difficult the first year...and even more so if you are new in the area. But this part of the country is still doing very well..compared to CA.
I have been working very hard...and it is starting to pay off..
I would suggest you work for a real estate company that gets alot of referrals from relocations and internet leads...that is very helpful at first.
If you need any more information..feel free to PM me.
Good Luck!

Thank you for your post. Yes, from everything I've read, the first year is pretty tight and you need about 6 months reserves to make it through. I figure between that and Ebay, I'll be ok. <fingers crossed> I definitely plan to go with a larger company that offers good training and lots of support for new agents. In the meantime, I'm spending alot of time on various real estate forums and reading anything I can get my hands on about real estate. I'm trying to be as proactive as I can be.
