My partner and I are moving from Chattanooga to Nashville, and we're very interested in East Nashville. There are a couple of houses I'm interested in and was wondering about the areas:

1000 block of Carolyn Avenue. Cute house, street looks well-kept, and
1100 block of Stainback Avenue. Cute house, street looks like there's potential there.

We currently live in a gentrifying area of Chattanooga (some call it the Hood, but it isn't), so we're not scared off easily unless it's really terrible - neither street makes me nervous just from what I can tell. We looked at a house on Lischey and one on Leland and I didn't feel too comfortable in either place.

Just some input about the area would be great.

I had a friend that rented a house on Carolyn several years back and she never had a problem. When she got married, I think she and her husband even looked at a house to buy on Carolyn (they didn't) but she liked living on that street. I don't know anyone, personally, on Stainback....but I think it's ok. I do get what you are saying about Lischey though.

Stainbeck: Hood Life

Nah just kidding. But if you guys didn't feel comfortable on Lischey then I would't really recommend Stainbeck. Leland is in the rough part of Inglewood. Don't know much about Carolyn.

My issue with Lischey was that it was extremely rundown, and the people looked shady. Don't even get me started on that ghetto quickstop on Lischey and Trinity.

Stainback looked ok to me, like it was behind EoG (east of Gallatin), but still progressing. Carolyn seemed like a nice, quiet street from what we could tell.

Yes Lischey is kind of rough. But to be honest that area can get much more run down. Joseph st, n 2nd, and Dickerson pike can be much worst. On the bright side, the worst blocks that used to be n5th and n 6th now look nice because of gentrification, treutuland and hancock st are nice.
