I don't mind heat, it's the humidity that kills me. I confess I turned on the air around 3pm because the dogs were all panting heavily and while I felt comfortable under the ceiling fan the poor fella's wearing their fur suits weren't feeling it.

NASHVOLS!!! Did you REALLY have to do that? Gives me the shivers . . .

I wish we'd get some rain. My garden and plants are wilting. I water every morning but there's a limit to how much I can spend on water. Don't see any rain in the forecast.

Ok, I just had this discussion with a friend the other day. April- the 1st part of June was not that hot.. I think March was more adnormally warm than either April or May. I haven't had to run my air much at all thus far until recently, and a few other times here and there. My birthday week, April 23rd, was on the cool side, and June 1st it was cool out too. I think its been over all pretty average hot. My friend thinks its just been really hot since March...

With a 30-40 degree difference from San Francisco, I love it. Though starting a bike ride at 2PM today was probably a little silly.

I don't mind the heat in the slightest.

The problem (as Countrygirl2b= has pointed out) is the lack of rain.

We're in a serious drought here, folks. Only around 1/4-inch of rain so far in June and we're way down from averages for the year too. Not sure if any of you are gardeners, but plants are wilting and dying right and left. If it's bad for the gardeners, it's probably worse for the farmers. I heard that ranchers are selling cattle in West Tennessee because there's nothing for the cows to eat.

But people are still watering their lawns daily out here in Brentwood.

People are still watering everywhere.

We have a burn ban here right now, and fireworks will be a problem next week.

But no cities have issued water restrictions that I am aware of.

I mostly agree. June 1st I remember specifically being cool. I was at Brew at the Zoo and left early because I had a T-shirt on and that just wasn't enough to stay warm. There were some weeks in there that my air didn't run much, but it's been set to AC since April. I keep the thermostat on 77 and that keeps the house anywhere from 75-76. Now I also work outside all day so even on those nice 80+ degree days it was really nice to come home and have the AC blowing inside!

I would not be surprised. Our yard has a "high water table," but even our grass is crispy and dry.

I think Franklin did (quietly) request that people water their lawns no more than every other day.

Oh yeah, and one of their other major water-saving ideas was to not flush bugs down the toilet. Seriously?! Are there thousands of Franklinians flushing bugs every day? (I typically try to catch them in a plastic container and release them outside. Sometimes I squash. I rarely squash and flush.)

But even if we're not in a water restriction yet, you'd think maybe people would realize that water will be running low and it might be best to proactively conserve, at least moderately?

I know, I know, that's crazy talk.

The profligate use of water on lawns that serve no real purpose (nothing edible, little wildlife value) makes me (metaphorically) weep buckets, as in this emoticon:
