I don't know if it's all this rain or what, but especially last night we have had tons of tiny little black flying bugs and even smaller ones all over the place. When we open the door to let the dogs out, they come in and the fly swatter doesn't stop. Yesterday the windows outside were covered in them. I just came in from getting the mail & they are all over even the house next door.

Is anyone else having this problem? What can I do about it?

Yes, they are a problem near my house too.

My advice is to pray for a cold winter. Seriously.

The warm winter we had last year did not adequately kill off the insect population, which is why ticks and mosquitos were so bad this year.

They have been bad. I think they came after the really bad heat wave we got a month or two ago. They're fruit flies.

Get a jar. Put in some red wine or apple vinegar. A splash of dish soap (weighs the flies down into the liquid) and some slices of fruit (banana works good - but make sure they're small enough so fully submerged). Make a funnel going downward into the jar and tape it around the edge of the jar so it's sealed and stays in place. I have done it and it takes care of the problem well.

This one is not mine, but it's the same thing:
