I don't know much about everyone else, but I have had two separate realtors list my house in Clarksville TN and I've had little to no communciation. I don't feel I should have to beg for details when they will get thousands of dollars if my house sells. I have even emailed them a few weeks into it, that I want updates by email every two weeks or so. I don't feel that is too much to ask. Of course I never had one call in a month and a half. The only time my second realtor called is because she was calling me back. The first one hardly even returned my calls. No reply on the emails too.

I always believed selling a home is more than just sticking a sign in the yard, and putting it on the MLS with an occassional ad in the paper. For the amount of money (3-6% commission) they get, they shouldn't be so lazy. Heck I could of done that myself with a discount broker firm to add to the MLS.

Anyone have this happen to them? And if so what did you do to change it? Thanks

Unfortunately that does happen. There's no excuse for poor service and at least staying in touch with the client. I think sometimes agents get a little put off if the listing is not showing so they really don't feel like they have anything to communicate. Still, no excuse. Of course, no showings is a whole different subject, and it is discouraging to the agent.

If your house has been listed and there are no showings, it's likely the agent didn't do their homework to begin with or did not initially communicate properly with the homeowner.

Hi, I used to be a Realtor in west TN!

Talk to the person and ask if they do real estate part time. Lots of Realtors have second jobs to make ends meet.

Talk to the main broker in the firm. You may be better off listing with this person than with someone who just started.

Check local listings to see who has the most houses listed. Are houses listed in a local newspaper or other publication? Check these out - if someone has a lot of listings they probably have a lot of closings. If they only have one or two houses listed then they probably don't close on many properties.

Google the person. If they have blogs and websites that are regularly updated then they probably have a lot of closings.
