I have friends visiting that I can't have stay at my house. They are looking for a reasonable place to stay in a trendy area . . . hmm. I guess that means East Nashville? Or maybe near Vandy? They are looking into AirBNB which looks promising but wondered if anyone has a 'go to' hotel/motel for out of town guests??? I'm thinking not a chain, maybe even something quirky. Any ideas?

lol, as per the usual question...what kind of budget?

And hotel + East Nashville is an immediate no. Perhaps someday...but not today.

But there is an attractive b&b in East Nashville. Personally the Hotel Indigo downtown is my favorite followed by Aloft which has locations in Nashville and Cool Springs.

The Big Bungalow is nice, and is one block over from "Deacon's" house.

I usually recommend the good ol' Residence Inn in Cool Springs. We stayed in a suite w/ the kids; I don't know the cost of a small studio or room there. Breakfast is included in the cost and several nights a week a dinner/supper is served, too. Popcorn at night. Indoor pool, too for year-round swimming.

What is their budget?

To me, "trendy" is different for visitors/tourists and locals.

For out-of-town visitors, I'd suggest somewhere between Broadway and the Gulch, depending on their price range. I'd wouldn't want the hotel to unique as much as the area around it.

But that's me.

Sounds trendy.

Not sure if it classifies as trendy, but I have always had nice stays at the Hampton Inn or Courtyard by Marriott downtown, a couple blocks from Broadway and 2nd Ave. If your guests have never been to Nashville, these locations will put them right in the heart of the tourist district.

Another couple options are the Hutton (a trendy, but somewhat expensive hotel) or Embassy Suites near Music Row and the surrounding Vanderbilt area, which has some "hip" restaurants. You could essentially walk downtown along Broadway from that location as well. We booked the Embassy Suites as the main guest hotel for our wedding and all of our guests loved the location and proximity to a wide variety of things to do in Nashville.

Within walking distance of Downtown Franklin would be my other suggestion, but there are no hotels that fit that bill. There may be some B&B options though.

Never heard of the Big Bungalow but it did come up while Googling on my iPhone last night when I couldn't sleep!

(wow, it's near Deacon's house - might need to book a few nights there myself!)

I think they are looking at $125 or less which is not going to get them much by the time you add on all the taxes. I think people think Nashville will be 'cheap' and it's NOT! But thanks for all the suggestions!

Certainly don't want anyone to build a Motel 6 within walking distance of Downtown Franklin BUT it would be a HUGE money maker!

Try Priceline. I haven't used it for Nashville, but I've had success getting good hotels for decent rates. Keep in mind the hotel tax is usually around 18% or so, and a number of the in-town places charge for parking on top of that. Also...when are they going to be visiting? The rates are probably going to rise along with the temperatures.
