Thanks , I agree. What I intended to say was that we have been looking in the Cherokee Station area off Westlawn.

Sorry for the confusion. Getting some of the names mixed up.

You would be in walking distance of a handful of really good restaurants, then.

Unless anyone has had any bad experiences , have enjoyed walking the dog in Centeninal Park. Everyone I have spoken with says the same. Just to clarify , we are early to bed types and in by 9:00 PM. Not sure what happens there after that.

Thanks again.
The West end area is the new downtown. It is considerably safer and offers more restaurants, retail, and things to do. Centennial park is a gem and in walking distance. Vanderbilt and Belmont Universities are close by and keep the area with a young population.

1) West End is not the new downtown.
2) West End does not have more things to do for a tourist. For a local? It's debatable...probably still no...but if you're talking attractions that a visitor would enjoy, it's not even close.

I don't disagree with most of the other points.

The bars and restaurants are a lot different in West End and Midtown...so it really depends on what the OP is looking for. For Country-themed and generally more music-oriented, Downtown is unquestionably better. I would suggest West End for more of the foodie crowd or looking for alternatives to the honkytonk atmosphere. In a week's time, it's certainly possible to enjoy both.
