Just went to a "Lunch & Lecture" at Cheekwood where the artist, Bruce Munro, spoke about his art - he works with light - fiberoptics, as well as the sun hitting CDs! This will be as popular, if not more so I think, than the Chihuly exhibit which was lit up just one night a week (they eventually extended it to three). There are works inside the museum and on the grounds. I guess they 'work' in daylight as well but better at night. Cheekwood will be open Wednesday/Thursday/Friday nights until 11 for this exhibit which I believe requires a separate admission.

Info here: Light: Bruce Munro at Cheekwood :: Cheekwood Botanical Garden & Museum of Art, Nashville, TN

And this is one of his works, though not one at Cheekwood:

Thanks for posting that, Cheekwood is on my list for our visit in June! I read a bit about the exhibit, it used to be at Longwood Gardens in Kennet Square, PA. We were just there about a month ago, I used to live near there growing up.

YES! This is just his 2nd American installation. The exhibit was in PA and normally it takes 3 YEARS of planning, but since some of the art was already in PA, it was a very quick 6 months turnaround. We're very lucky!

Cheekwood also just completed the installation of lights all along the paths. The Pineapple Room has some good food (although hours are odd, check ahead) and I would suggest bringing some bug spray. Depends on weather of course, but mosquitoes could be out . . . .

Went to the opening tonight.

Stunning.

MAGICAL!

And I only saw half of what was there . . . really, go see it! I thought it would all just be lit or unlit. But the colors change! it's so very cool. Cheekwood has outdone itself! Will upload a video tomorrow and share the link.

Here are pix from my iPhone!

It's through November 10th I think. Put it on your itinerary when you visit - right after driving past Deacon's house!

Even though I'm a Native Nashvillian, I'm ashamed to admit I've never been to Cheekwood.

This looks stunning, I will definitely make it out there this summer. How long is it open for?
