In town for one night on business Monday with a group of people. Staying at the courtyard Marriott downtown. Looking for something fun and traditional to do Monday night! Any advice? Thanks!

You'll be within a couple of blocks of Broadway. You might walk down there and just pick something out. Jack's BBQ is popular. Merchants Restaurant is a little more upscale. There are a lot of bars and honky-tonk places (although these days they are less real honky-tonks and more touristy).

The days are long now and there will probably be a lot of people out, so the Broadway/Second Avenue area has a very festive-like atmosphere during the day and in the evening.

Puckett's is 1 block away at 5th and Church. If you plan to go have some fun at the bars, you can do that afterwards on Broadway or 2nd (Puckett's does serve alcohol, and sometimes has a live band...but it's not a honkytonk). I like Jack's, too...but occasionally it can be overly loud/crowded. Monday nights can be a little tamer (depending on the season and if there are any events at the arena)...but in general, Broadway is a zoo. If you want to sit and actually enjoy your meal, do it somewhere other than Broadway (Merchants aside).

There are a number of good restaurant choices in East Nashville, Germantown, and Midtown, but those would require a car or cab ride. If you'd rather walk, you're not going to do better than Puckett's.

Pucketts is local - meat & three. Nice local 'feel' to it. Higher end would be the Capital Grille at the Hermitage Hotel Nashville Fine Dining, Best Downtown Restaurants | Capitol Grille or there's a Palm Restaurant in the Hilton hotel across from the Bridgestone that I rather like even though it's a chain.

On the lower end (fried pickles) there's the Wildhorse Saloon. It's touristy but it has free line dancing lessons which is kinda goofy fun. Entertainment - Wildhorse Saloon

If you want something fairly nice but don't want to burn a hole in your wallet, Merchants.

If you are willing to spend a bit more and dine in a very upscale setting, Capitol Grille.

Please don't come to Nashville and go to the Capitol Grille. They have those everywhere.

Merchants is good, but I'd try Tavern. Gets pretty busy but their food is pretty good, IMO. The Southern is also a good choice for DT eating.

You're thinking of the wrong restaurant(s), tampabaygal. The Capital Grille at the Hermitage Hotel is not connected with the chain of Capital Grille restaurants as far as I know.
