My wife and I are looking to relocate to Williamson County. We are targeting four different neighborhoods with 3 different school zones. They are:

1) Laurelbrooke
Grassland Elementary
Grassland Middle
Franklin HS

2) Princeton Hills and McGavock Farms
Scales
Brentwood Middle
Brentwood HS

3) Annandale
Lipscomb
Brentwood Middle
Brentwood HS

I've heard there is to be some rezoning in 2014. I figure there is no chance Princeton Hills or McGavock Farms would be changed. What's the likelihood of Laurelbrooke or Annandale being rezoned???

I've heard Scales was likely the best elementary school in Williamson, but Lipscomb actually has better reviews on one website. Is there a big difference between Scales and Lipscomb?

I've always heard Brentwood is as good as it gets, but how does the Grassland/Franklin HS zone compare to the Brentwood schools?

I know a few families in Laurelbrooke and none of them use the public schools. They are all at various private schools. Just something to consider as it can change the sense of communities.

I know a few in McGavock Farms and they use the public schools.

Annadale I don't know much about.

If you are worried about rezoning I'd stick with choice #2. There is talk of a new high school in the Northwest/Grassland area.

A consideration: The IB program is currently located at Franklin High School. If your children are interested in IB and the IB program remains at FHS, you would have to have your own transportation there if you live outside FHS's zone.

We haven't ruled out private schools, but that's a big commitment with 3 kids. I'm self employed and have been so for 16 years. While business is great today, things can change. If we were to do private, I couldn't stand the thought of having to move my kids out of a school they love because we couldn't afford it any longer. Plus, if WC schools are as great as I have been led to believe, is it really worth the spending that much on private schools? Is the education that much better???

Thanks! I didn't realize that. My main concern is elementary and middle school. It seems to me, that all of the Brentwood/Franklin High Schools are really good. Sure, one may be better than another, but it doesn't sound like you can really make a bad choice with the high schools. Now if they build a new HS and rezone... you never know.

Of course it's a free country, but IMHO there is no real reason to send your elementary-aged kids to private school here unless you want a religious education.
