Man, just bought a house in cool springs area and finding a quality painter that actually...

1. Does "his own work"
2. Is not some "hot shot king of the painters" that thinks he can totaly charge you insane prices
3. Is not a flake and actually sohws up on time and communicats

Seems to be totaly impossible !!!

Anybody know a quality painters out there?

This seems to be an issue with most of the trades here we have found. No shows after appts are set (and reconfirmed).

Few and far between. Painters are a weird bunch, too. I think it has to do with the fumes.

The ones I know are always booked up.

Was married to one, not gonna argue that at all!
To be fair a lot of customers treat them as if their time isn't valuable. A lot of "oh, I forgot the plumbing/carpeting/new cabinets were being installed today, can we just reschedule you and your 3 guys for day after tomorrow or something?"

(I could send you his name but he's a good two hours from Cool Springs, sooo nah, never mind)

I'd like to find a good painter myself.

I can recommend a good roofer and a good tree removal company if anyone needs it.

It often comes down to that old joke about "price, quality, service, pick two."

I remember my wife telling me about someone in Florida who was, in the words of a contractor she knew, the best and fastest drywall installer in the entire area -- but he only worked two or three days a week, however long it took to earn enough money to keep the lights on and beer in the fridge. The rest of the time, he went fishing or did nothing. Some days I think that guy had the right idea...

i have to totally agree with the second part of your statement!

my BF is a painting contractor in the Spring Hill area. he has often told me about the customer rescheduling him at the last minute, when he has blocked out a time period on his schedule to do the work which is agreeable to both him and the customer at the time.

and then, having scheduled another job after, sometimes it is just impossible to do the job a few days later, because then you would have to bump your next job back, which is not fair to that customer.

i don't know if i can put his info up here (city-data rules?) but anyone interested can PM me. i can personally attest to his work....our pre-1900 cabin in TN is cute as a bug's ear, thanks to his talents.
