Are you suggesting pizza for their romantic dinner or starting a new thread about pizza?

Well since it's not for a first date type thing, if you go to Mere Bulles there is a discount on Scout Mob for up to $20 off dinner for two. Use that to go toward the accompanying present.

Thanks! We're definitely not ashamed to whip out a coupon when the check arrives.

Nooe, just wondering. Moving in a few months.
Didn't think it warranted a new thread...but don't want to hijack!
Figured its a quick question and you foodies know.

It's not a quick question given the strong opinions on what makes "good" pizza.

It's definitely a separate topic. Check the thread I linked to for lots of suggestions.

Well, I figured I would follow-up to this post. We ended up going to the Cork & Cow and we both wish we had gone elsewhere. If I am going to pay what I did there, I'd rather go to Fleming's or Morton's where I know I am going to get excellent service and the atmosphere and food will warrant the price.

Quite a few annoyances:

1) I told them it was our anniversary when making the reservations and asked for a quieter table up in the loft, if available. Instead, we were seated right in the middle of the dining room and could barely hear each other during dinner and dealt with waiter's butts in our faces all evening due to the layout of the tables. Also, it was never acknowledged by anyone (hostess, waiter, manager) that is was our anniversary, while the couple near us were given dessert on the house and were wished a Happy Anniversary. Not major, as the dessert was only $10 or so, but it is little things like this that can make the evening nice.

2) My wife ordered the veggie Cannelloni and instead of using noodles, they used eggplant and stuffed it w/ the cheese and veggies. Luckily she can stomach eggplant, but something this "out there" should be noted on the menu.

3) My medium rare Ribeye, was rare at best...cool, tough to chew and still pretty bloody. The outside was also not very warm and it was a pretty terrible excuse for a $44 steak. I didn't send it back, b/c IMHO, places billing themselves as a fine steakhouse should get it right the first time. I have never had to send a steak back at any of the other finer steakhouses in the Southeast.

4) Service dragged on and there were long, long period before being acknowledged, getting drinks, food, etc. For being such a small place, the service was not up to par.

5) I don't know why they serve their bread in cast iron skillets when the bread is cold...kind of loses the illusion of the bread being fresh out of the oven.

I will say that our table was ready for us when we got there and the macaroni & cheese was excellent...other than that, it was pretty mediocre, IMHO. I've gone ahead and written off 55 South and Red Pony as well for future date spots, given my experience at Cork & Cow.
