I live in Ohio and my friend just moved to Alabama. We are planning on meeting in Nashville over Thanksgiving. We will arrive Wednesday and leave Sunday. Where should we go and what should we do while we are there? We don't have our hotel or bed/breakfast yet. Trying to find something affordable. What is open on Thanksgiving Day?

Sounds like fun!

What do you consider affordable?

Hotels will certainly be open. I would imagine B&Bs would be as well. Many restaurants will be open too...Monell's comes to mind as being open every year (I'd recommend getting reservations ASAP). Usually the local paper will run a listing of restaurants that are open Thanksgiving but I haven't seen anything like that yet.

Wal Mart, Kmart and Sears are all open Thanksgiving Day. Thanksgiving Thursday is the new Black Friday . . . .

What you DO while you are here depends on what you LIKE to do? Shopping? Music? What kind of music? History? Antiques? Touristy stuff?

Give us a hint!

The monthly flea market will be open at the Fairgrounds. It's one of the Top 10 in the country.

I wouldn't recommend seeing the lights at the Opryland Hotel unless you want to be there with 50,000 others and wait 2 hours to park. Its quite a sight to see if you can come back on say a mid week day in early December.

We have made our hotel reservations. We ended up booking out by the airport but we will have a car. I am interested in The Bluebird Café and we of course want to check out The Opry. Other than that, we really don't know. The Flea Market sounds interesting. We will be looking for things to do Thursday, Friday and Saturday. As far as music goes, I love country music. History, yes. Museums, no. Touristy, probably a little!

You should probably buy Opry tickets sooner than later. Not a lot of tickets left for that Fri/Sat.
