I had a friend who sent her kids to Abintra and thought it was so so. She ended up moving her kids to a Waldorf School (Linden Corner) and has loved it. I think it's all about finding the right fit for your child though, so I would check them all out.

I have heard great things about Abintra and I have also heard from people that they are very snooty. Its hearsay so dont take my word for it. Just feedback when I asked around.

I dont know much about Casa DEi but I have heard they have a great arts program very similar to the Waldorf model.

I would truly love to learn more about these programs. We are looking at Abintra and Casa Dei for Montessori's and Linden for Waldorf. Abintra is very impressive looking and has apparently a huge wooded area - but no music/instrument component, indoor gym facility. For the price, seems expensive.

i would really ask to have your child spend a day at each. all my info is second hand. as i recall, my friend had her son at abintra for 2 years. she described it as very industrious but very "quiet". kids were definitely encouraged to progress at their own pace, but the atmosphere included alot of speaking in very soft voices. i hope somebody who has sent their kids there recently can clarify if that is true. i vaguely recall a spanish immersion option - i am not sure if that is still offerred.

At Linden Corner, it is a very fun environment, and they definitely learn alot in a hands-on way. Of course, in true waldorf style, reading is delayed - although i think some parents just sort of teach that at home. Anyways they all seem to end up reading just fine - but if you decide to transition them out of Waldorf before 3rd-4th grade, they can be behind in that regard, so it is somewhat of a commitment to stay. They get to do very cool things - knitting, hiking, train for a pentathalon, and some cool medieval stuff. i think its a fun place. potential down side is the very small class sizes - maybe 10-15 kids in a grade, so the grade dynamic is very important. My friend has been very satisfied, having sent 2 kids to Linden Corner. Alot of the Linden Corner kids end up going to Ensworth or USN after 8th grade, which are 2 well regarded private schools in nashville.
