Hi folks
First let me say, I have been reading this forum for several weeks and you Nashville folks seem so nice! Now, I need your expect advice.

We have to decide today on one of two rental properties. Husband's job is taking him there temporarily (3-4 yrs) for his job. We notice that rental properties in Franklin/Brentwood fly off the market so we need to make a decision today.

First let me explain what I am hoping to get: Family friendly community. We will not know anyone and need to make friends fast so want a neighborhood where it is easy to meet people. I should say #1 priority is schools, though I have read all schools in Wm. County are good. My oldest son has Autism/ADHD so need a school that is sensitive to that and has great special services. And as far as schools, want a school with a lot of parent involvement and again, where we can meet people and just have an overall great relationship with the school and folks there.

Would like a place close to amenities such as grocery shopping and the YMCA - I am a big Y fan and read you all have a couple of good ones! Also close to parks and running trails. Husband is working in Cool Springs so that is why we are targeting Brentwood/Franklin.

Now, here are our two choices:

1. A house on red oak lane. I am not sure of the subdivision name. It appears the house is in the North area of Brentwood. School is Edmundson.

2. A house in the Avalon subdivision. School is Clovercroft.

I like the actual on Red Oak lane better, but I think we would like the Avalon location better.

Any advice you can give is appreciated. We have to make a decision today!

Thank You!!!

We have friends that live on Red Oak Lane. They have lots of get togethers with their neighbors. In the winter, some of the houses rent a lift together and spend all weekend working together to hang lights. I know that neighborhood has Easter egg hunts, donuts with Santa, progressive dinners, etc, so you should definitely be able to meet people.
We are also zoned for Edmondson and love it. I have two that have already graduated from there and one still there.
I don't really know anything about Avalon.

I agree, although I admit I am partial to Brentwood anyway.

Edmondson is an excellent school, as is Clovercroft. Avalon is very nice and is close to Cool Springs, but not close to any YMCA.

Traveling to Clovercroft on McEwen drive will be a nightmare as that area gets more developed, since the city of Franklin can't currently afford and has no plans to widen McEwen Drive between Carothers and Wilson Pike.

I would choose Southern Woods.

Have you been to these places in person?

Thanks for your replies - the situation resolved itself because the Avalon rental was gone by Noon so we secured Red Oak. I was a little sad to not make the decision myself but feel MUCH better now after reading your comments, so thank you! Husband is able to go in person to look as he is there M-Th but I'm doing this blind! But, Red Oak it is. Now, any help with peds, docs, etc is appreciated!!! I'll start another thread though and also look through whats already out there.

We go to Brentwood Children's Clinic, specifically Dr. Lee for our Ped . He's great and his kids also go/went to Edmondson, so lots of EES families go to him.
We go to a family dentist in 100 oaks area that we love, but if you want one in Brentwood, you could try Brentwood Dental Specialists. We haven't been to the dentist, but our ortho is her husband and we really like him. They are both together in the office.
Congrats on your rental and welcome to EES.
