Looking for a good travel agent . . . I'm more of a budget traveler and do a lot of my own research but would like someone from time to time to book things I am not able to do myself. I tried AAA but had trouble with the agent who I felt was too pushy. I don't even know if there are any travel agencies left? Anyone have someone they enjoy working with? Preferably in Franklin/Nashville. I'm not cheap . . more 'Thrifty' - I travel off season, etc.

CG2b --

I don't have any firsthand experience...but I seem to recall a small travel agency right beside the Baskin Robbins in Franklin.

Good luck!

I had a good experience with (and have a friend who has used) Travel Stars off of Music Row. I ended up not going on the trip we booked (decided a down payment on the house was better than going to France for our honeymoon) but Pam Keller was great. They handle mostly music clientele, but were very patient and helpful with me. I'd probably use them for a big investment type trip (cruise, extended foreign, etc).

I went on a mission trip that used Wright Travel and it seemed to work out well.

I'm very much a do-it-myself person when it comes to travel, though.

I would recommend Karen McAlpin with McAlpin Travel. She's in Franklin, and I know she works with people with all kinds of budgets.
