Hendersonville for sure, we moved here from Chicago and love it. Is traffic sometimes annoying? Yes, but nothing like other suburbs I've been in around Nashville.

Hendersonville and Spring Hill are about 55 miles apart. If you moved to one and got a job closer to the other, you would be commuting for an hour, at least. If you have to pick before you move here, I would pick Hendersonville simply because it is closer to Nashville.
One other option would be renting an apartment somewhere in the middle, somewhere like Nipper's Corner. And then buying a house once you get a job and see where you will be working.

I read his post below as saying he's retired for now but planning to look for work once he moves here. Maybe I misunderstood it.

It sounded like a job isn't the primary concern.

IMO the only reason I'd choose Hendersonville over Spring Hill is boating. If boating isn't really that important to you, Spring Hill has a more manageable commute, better shopping options (cool springs/green hills are closer to spring hill), is in an extremely beautiful area of Tennessee (Columbia, right down the road, has many of Tennessee's largest plantation homes), and has Franklin nearby, which is bustling with boutiques, restaurants, and culture. Most important, I generally see more price growth for Spring Hill over the next few decades than I do for Hendersonville, though neither would be a bad investment. Literally every single area of Nashville has experienced price growth over the last decade...
