There are 45 high rises and skyscrapers under construction, approved or proposed for Nashville right now, in 2023.

See the amazing article below highlighting each tower:

https://citynownext.com/2023/02/28/4...own-nashville/

High rises and skyscrapers listed all exceed 15 stories and up.

That is just for downtown. This list doesn’t include the new buildings in midtown. There are presently 16 towers of 15 stories or more planned or underway.

Midtown is starting to get that canyon look especially along West End and Broadway areas. It will be interesting to see the transformation of the Beaman properties.

The TN General Assembly has approved an initial $200 million for the land acquisision, design and development of a new Tennessee Performing Arts Center for their new complex after the state sells the Andrew Jackson Tower which has housed TPAC's three theaters since the building opened 44 years ago. Another $300 is likely to pass next year with matching donations for a complex costing between $800M-1B. A site for the new TPAC complex has not been selected, but the outgoing Mayor Cooper is pressing for a site on the East Bank and close to the new $2.1 billion domed football stadium. Over 300 acres where the current stadium stands will be redeveloped into a high-rise district with a new parkway thoroughfare tying the whole area from a new bridge across the Cumberland south of the I-24 bridge, and stretching all the way through the new Oracle campus to Vashti Street under the I-65 bridge over the river. TPAC selected a trio of architecture firms including, Bjarke Ingels Group of Copenhagen, William Rawn Associates of Boston and EOA Architects of Nashville to design the project.

Some of this information is behind the Nashville Post paywall. https://www.nashvillepost.com/busine...cc4ca4a8a.html

That seems like an odd choice of location. Wouldn't it make the most sense to try to site this venue as close to the convention center (& hotels) as possible?

Just saying, for $1b, the location should be as good as it gets.

What big chunk of land is available close to the convention center that isn't already spoken for/planned?

Everything is moving south from Broadway. Putting it on East Bank is just a walk across the pedestrian bridge to hotels. And there will likely be a hotel or two build over in EB.

Doesn't Carl Icahn still own the 45 acres of land PSC metals sits on (sold PSC metals, but kept the land)? He's gotten into a little bit of trouble very recently. He could liquidate the land and turn a tidy profit that's for sure.

It would perfectly fit where the now Walk of Fame Park is (4th and Demonbreun St). That's a full city block that could be used. Heart of downtown, across from the Schermerhorn & next to the Music City Center (parking there too). A culture enthusiast wet dream hat-trick.

If you want to keep the green space, put it on top of the building like they did with the Music City Center.

A recent shot from early May 2023, of the Nashville Yards development downtown.

This picture is looking southwest from downtown, with Nashville Yards in the forefront, and midtown Nashville further back.

https://up-bucket-0.s3.amazonaws.com...7dd9078b3.jpeg

It goes to show how very quickly Nashville has boomed, going from a mid-sized southern capital city, to a larger city with high rise and skyscraper "canyons" of buildings emerging in many districts.
