In my research about the Nashville area, I have come across several articles about the possible failure of Wolf Creek Dam. As I am currently interested in Hermitage, Old Hickory, Mount Juliet and Brentwood, what are the implications for these areas. As I am not very familiar with the area, it is cumbersome to analyze the inundation maps. I know it is hard to say without specific addresses, but just looking for general info as I narrow down areas before I begin looking at houses.

Thanks to everyone for your input.

60439, I was hoping someone more informed would answer this but I'll tell you what little I know.

I have water front property on Old Hickory Lake, so if it floods I'm getting wet. My understanding is that the Army Corp of Engineers has lowered the water level in the damn to do repairs. There was an article in the paper and one of the quotes in it was by one of the engineers. He said that he had just recently purchased a lake front property and was not concerned. Had he been he would have purchased else where.

We bought our house before hearing about the leaky dam, however..........I would do it again regardless. Waking up every morning to the sun coming up and reflecting off the water never ceases to bring a smile to me.

When I was going to buy there, my realtor told me not to because of the dam. When I finally bought a home where I live now and told new realtor why I stayed away from those towns, she thought the first realtor was crazy. I get different stories.
