Tennessean: Gallatin ranks as one of the top power suburbs in US

Great news for Gallatin and Sumner County in general.

Hmmm!

I was surprised that Joann Graves lost the recent mayoral election. Gallatin has done well under her leadership, and she is a kick-ass lady. It will be interesting to see how Gallatin fares under the new mayor.

Glad I moved here. I love my area "Savannah" and surrounding areas Hunt Club, Foxland Harbor, and Fairview Plantation.

It was very close race (Brown only won by 84 votes), but I wasn't surprised. While I agree Gallatin did well during the Graves years, I know a bunch of people who were turned off by office politics that were published in the paper from time to time. Graves seemed petty, and that something I personally don't want to see in executive management.

Graves is handing off a city that is on the move, and it could be a challenge for Brown to keep the momentum going.

Good to know. No room for pettiness in local politics, since it will only keep you focused on settling scores. Best to move on and move forward.

This is supposed to be credible, because it came from a self storage company? I wonder how much their supposed analysis was skewed by the income of the financial outliers who live in the Fairview area. Certainly, most of Gallatin is far different from that area.

From the article "..we compared 2010 data with 2013 data, the latest numbers available from the U.S. Census Bureau, and we excluded places that were more than 40 miles from a major city."

Seems like a legit data set to work with.

The Fairview residents are part of Gallatin, so they factor in. I know of many people that commute to Nashville and farther south as that's were the money is.

Have you looked at Zillow or RealTracs and seen what some of the houses are selling for in Gallatin? There's a ton of properties that qualify as Gallatin that are $250K and up. Plus there’s a couple new big housing developments going in over the next few years too.

With SR386 and HWY109, Sumner County and Gallatin is queuing up for bunch of growth. And depending on where you are in Gallatin, travel distance between Hendersonville/Rivergate and Mount Juliet is “about” the same distance give or take a few miles. With Providence area growth exploding, and a ton of new development that will be taking place along Beckwith Rd, population densities will no doubt continue to follow HWY109. Gallatin will surely benefit some from that as well.

Now whether all that growth is a good thing or not is another story.
