Hello all, I maybe moving to Nashville from FL for a new job and I've looked around on this forum for a few weeks now regarding apartments and neat places to live. I've read that the Franklin Area has a lot of conveniences and shops like whole foods etc. I would be working near the airport area so I would like to keep my commute below 15-20mins at the most. Price range for renting would be between 900-1200. I look forward to your replies.

Thanks!

Franklin to the airport will be much longer than 15 to 20 minutes. Knowing nothing except your rent/commute preference I'd say East Nashville, Hermitage and Donelson would all likely fit your criteria. Hermitage and Donelson specifically.

I'll also throw in Mount Juliet.

In that case you might be better served to expand your commute range and rent if possible. But, if you do live in East Nashville or anywhere closer to the "desirable" younger areas like Midtown, The Gulch, etc...you'll be going against the flow of traffic. Which might help. I mean, I live in the Hermitage/Mt. Juliet area also and am also in my late 20s however....I grew up here so I don't feel the need for the more desirable parts of town.

Ok that's good to know, what areas would be considered East Nashville?

Thanks!

I don't know if people hear East Nashville and think it's vaguely referring to "east of Nashville" but East Nashville is an actual designated area of the city. It's more Northeast than anything I guess.

It's an area undergoing a lot of gentrification and because of that there are quite a few areas that wouldn't probably be considered "safe", but some research should get you familiar with it pretty quickly. That certainly isn't scaring anyone away from moving there, that's for sure.

East Nashville is really a collection of neighborhoods, and I wouldn't put a blanket statement on any of it. East Nashville has several smaller neighborhoods, and the total population resides in three zip codes (or parts of three zip codes). Total population is around 50-55,000 which puts it somewhere between Brentwood and Franklin. Any area that large will have good areas, bad areas, and areas in between. There are also some relatively cheap areas and expensive areas.

Check into Inglewood, 37216.

You'd be close to Briley Pkwy which is a fast route to the airport area.
