I'm thinking about relocating to the Nashville area in spring 2016. l want to know where are some safe affordable one bedroom apartments to rent preferably for about $700 or less for to look at that aren't too far from downtown? Also, I've been trying to research this area as much as I can and continue to do so for the rest of the year. If y'all don't mind giving me some insight to the city or suburban area like how the people are, what areas to stay away from, what's the weather like during all four seasons. I've heard the Nashville area is kind of on the expensive side and some areas is high maintenance so that's why I'm asking any Nashville natives or newcomers who relocated there recently or been living there for a few years some of their insight of your experience living in the Nashville area.

No worries, I currently working in the towboat industry so no need for me to find a job in Nashville. I'm just a laid back young guy in my mid 20's just looking for a decent safe place to live in Tennessee and enjoy the city amenities. I'm planning on taking a visit to the city next week as a tourist.

If Nashville not the right choice for me, please feel free to mention other affordable cities in Tennessee to look at as well.

Thanks.

for about $700 or less
At that price point, you will be very far away from downtown or in a really shady area.

Why TN?

I don't think you'll find $700/mo unless you have a roommate or are in subsidized housing

You will find that in Knoxville and possibly Chattanooga. Also Louisville KY.

Where is your work base? Barge traffic, I presume?

Why TN? I heard good things about the Nashville area so I figured the area be affordable. TN seems to be a cool state.

Ok, I'll do research on those three cities.

Work base in Lakin, WV.

As a place gets more popular, and more people move there, the rents go up - because there are more people than there are places for them to live. It's "supply and demand". When the demand exceeds the supply, the prices go up. When the supply exceeds the demand (like oil right now), the prices go down. $700 just isn't a realistic budget here at the moment - but who knows what will be going on in Spring 2016? They are building apartments and houses like crazy, so rents might do down a bit in older apartment complexes.

I think you can find something in Davidson County in your range, but it will be primarily in transitional or some of the less desirable areas. You'll likely find more and better options further away from the core of the city. The rents have gone up dramatically here in the last few years and they will continue to climb. I would take a look at Padmapper, Craigslist and some of the apartment guides to get a feel for how much rents are in the various parts of the metro.

Seems like a backwards way of thinking.
