I moved from TN to another state and got a driver's license in my new location. Three years later, suddenly there is a "suspended license" violation showing up on my insurance. The date on the violation is the date that I got my new license in my new state. I called my insurance company and they said it's on my driving record from the TN DMV so there's nothing they can do about it. I called the local TN DMV office where I got my old license and they said I have to contact another office at 866-903-7357. I have been trying for weeks, but every time I call I get a recording that says "Due to high call volume we cannot take your call". There is no option to leave a message. It just says to try again later, but they never take calls no matter when I try. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do, short of flying back to TN to talk to them in person?

I have no experience here, but I'd try calling the TN Department of Safety's main number 615-251-5166 or 615-251-5300. The toll free number may be to the same office, but at least it's a start. According to their website the general email inbox is email.safety@tn.gov. Their street address is: 1150 Foster Avenue Nashville, TN 37243. If phone calls or emails don't work, send them a certified letter explaining the problem.

If that doesn't work...I don't know...maybe calling your state representative's office in your current state and explaining it to one of their constituent service staff members to see if they can cut through the red tape.

Thanks for the numbers and addresses, DonCorleone. I was having trouble getting their site to load to get this info.
