I just saw the date wine will be sold in grocery stores is July 1st, 2016.
I am beyond excited, I am so happy, I can't wait to not have to drive all over making a million trips.
It's also a step in the right direction and forward progress.

Will grocery stores be able to sell it on Sunday?
Has anyone heard anything about the grocery stores in Gallatin not doing this? (I'm hoping all are on board.)

No, the grocery stores can't sell wine on Sundays, only beer. Also, they can't sell wine on holidays when the liquor stores are closed - like Fourth of July, Labor Day. I am pretty sure you CAN buy wine at the Belle Meade Plantation on Sundays though!

You will have to ask in Gallatin what the local laws may be for wine to be sold there. In my remodeled Kroger they have a section laid out. Today they sell special beer in the spot.

I'm expecting a limited selection. You may still have to drive some depending on what specific wine you are looking for. Each store could make a different decision.

The state legislature voted for wine to be sold in grocery stores last spring in municipalities that allow bars or liquor stores, but each city and county had to approve the measure through local referendums.

It passed in something like 80 cities, including Gallatin. The measure did not even get on the ballot inColumbia, Dickson, La Vergne, Portland and Springfield.

They already have the aisles labeled and shelves labeled for wine in the walmarts here in Murfreesboro.

Is there anything being passed or trying to be passed to get rid of the old laws barring the sale on Sunday and holidays?
That would be even better.

No. I think they tried in 2013 but it failed.

The Publix in Gallatin has already prepped for it in their most recent (ongoing actually) remodel. I think it will be in the same aisle as beer.

So why will they be able to sell the beer on Sunday and not wine?

They already sell beer on Sunday. Beer and wine are viewed differently in the eyes of state law.
