I do miss living in the Nashville area. TN is my home state! When I visit, especially in Franklin, I'm amazed at the changes since I lived there. Westhaven was just in the very beginning phases, there was no McEwen drive exit, McKay's Mill was just getting started.

Who are the new employers (besides Nissan) in the area? Are HCA & some of the other big employers growing like crazy? I know Nashville is a great place to live, but people have to pay the bills!

Actually an example I know personally. My sister who bought a house in an older section of Brentwood in the summer of 2000 for 270,000 sold it last year for 630,000. It is a 4200 s.f. 5-bed, 4-bath rancher built in 1972. She updated cosmetically and added some landscaping. Overall a great investment as she is now downsizing.

Nissan brought their HQ to Franklin, Cool Springs
Not sure how many suppliers
Could be new office row separate from commercial mall

New retail to take the place of Circuit City, Office Max/Depot Staples

LP used to be New Orleans. Some moved here after Katrina, never went back

Major expansion around the new Music City Center convention center. May add a 2nd downtown to rival the BellSouth ATT building north of Broadway. Eventual redevelopment of the old Convention Center.

As for Bellevue, new construction redeveloping the old mall.
A lot of new houses out Highway 100 near the end of the Trace
A lot of development on Charlotte from in city out to Old Hickory. New West Nashville mall retail a big hit. New BRT bus from downtown to WalMart & Lowes.

Well, to be fair, it took us 7 years to get used to you.

Honestly, there are so many corporate HQ's and regional corporate offices relocating here the list is too long to show here. Healthcare, healthcare technology, publishing, banking, manufacturing, music, distribution, service industries (hotels, restaurants, retail, etc), insurance. .. and many others. The reality is: it's a good place to live and work.

Yeah, same over here in MJ. Some land south of my house was purchased for over 900k. The asssessed value was in the 200's. I saw in the paper two small parcels on N. Mt. Juliet Rd. sold for 1.2 million. Its happening all over. My house went up in value 40k in just two years. I know in certain parts of Nashville, its even higher

It's incredible and I'm happy for my friends who still live there. I miss it, but luckily live close enough that it's an easy day trip...especially to the Cool Springs area

I was half kidding about Deacon Claybourne, but I do think the show put Nashville back on the map. Companies who were considering a relocation, restaurants expanding to another location, or someone who would have normally not considered a job in Nashville might have all at least considered a move here. I certainly don't think he (the show!) hurt . . . . Three characters have all "lived" in East Nashville, which showcased those lovely bungalow houses. HGTV also has a couple shows devoted specifically to Nashville real estate "Listed Sisters" and "Masters of Flip".
