Hi! We are a family of six most likely relocating to the Nashville area in July. Husband is heading that way tomorrow to check it out and make decision. We are looking to rent our first year. Schools are top of my
List coming from the awful south Florida schools... We have been paying private school tuition and are so excited about the highly rated schools!! Also neighborhood, size of home, and would love a yard... We come from zero lot lines here but husband is from middle of nowhere PA and grew up with a few acres...
Is it possible to find a welcoming family friendly area with great schools affordability and a nice yard?
Love to take some recommendations

Where will your hubby be working? Drive time varies, depending on where you live. He won't want to sit in our traffic ....

There are 21 public libraries in Nashville. Are you referring to the main one downtown or one of the 20 branches?

I think I would start by looking for rentals on RealTracs

RealTracs Real Estate Mid-South Property Finder

Look in Williamson County for the schools, although I have been told that elementary schools in Davidson County are not bad. I would think it would make sense to rent in an area where you might plan to buy. What would be your eventual housing budget?

Anyway, click RENTAL . . . I used 1800 to 3000 (no commas!) for your budget and 3 pages of rentals popped up. I think I'd look in Franklin or Brentwood . . . your rental budget is very healthy for the area although it depends on how big a house you are looking for. You'll find a yard, but probably not acres.

I don't know much about Nolensville . . . someone here on the board might?

Fieldstone Farms might be a good choice (under the subdivision column). Westhaven is very popular with families but a further commute and not much in the way of a yard - some nice common areas. Franklin Green is near Westhaven but will have more of a yard. McKays Mill is another possibility, it's closer to the shopping at Cool Springs.

I would definitely start with RealTracs. Note that schools start up here August 5th.
