I am visiting Nashville from June 19-23 and plan on checking out the following areas: Goodlettsville, Hendersonville, Symrna, Murfreesboro, Hermitage and possibly Lebanon. Does anyone suggest things to do in these areas during this time. I will be traveling with my husband and daughter who is 4-years-old. During our visit, we will try to narrow what area we would like to call home next summer. Any suggestions or comments will be well appreciated.

What type of activities are you interested in? There is tons to do in the Nashville area. Are you an outdoor type or indoor type? Do you like history? Are you interested in country music?

If you could give some of those details, I am sure you will be bombarded with recommendations.

I moved here in 94 and it was the absolute best move I ever made!

Hate to sound like a homer, but Hendersonville is head and shoulders above all the other areas you named, especially if you're looking for somewhere to raise your young child.

Better schools, MUCH lower crime, more recreational activities than you can handle, friendly people, easy interstate access, beautiful scenery, sits on a lake, and still very affordable.

I differ. I think Murfreesboro is head and shoulders above the rest to raise a family in.

Check out Hendersonville. It is so nice and also growing. It is a good time to get in here. The prices are lower due to economy but will definately increase. Low crime and just a beautiful Lake here. They just put in a new mall. My kids are grown but people seem to like the schools.

While you are checking out Hendersonville ya might concider a late lunch (after 3pm) at Anchor High marina, out on their patio deck. It is a very nice setting right on the water and it is kinda fun feeding your extra frenchfries to the ducks and turtles swimming around in the water. It can get a little warm out there but they have plenty of ceiling fans to keep the air moving. Great crabcakes.
Good luck in your search.

Thank you all for your recommendations. I enjoy outdoor and indoor activities. I am not interested in Country music. Any kid friendly activities you suggest?

Nashville Shores is fun. Very kid friendly. I could try to explain it but it is better explained at Nashville Shores. There is also the Adventure Science Museum, Adventure Science Center | Nashville, TN., Wave Country, Nashville.gov - Parks and Recreation - Wave Country (http://www.nashville.gov/parks/wave_country.htm - broken link) and the Frist Center, Frist Center for the Visual Arts - Nashville, TN - Children and Families.

I know there has to be more that I am just not thinking of.
