We need some advice

We are very interested in retiring near Nashville. We want this to be our last move so we want to be happy there.
Our son currently lives in East Nashville so...
We are looking for a smaller city that is within about 30-45 minutes from Nashville and hopefully has:

...available housing $150,00 and $230,000
...very safe ...low crime rate
...good shopping
...a nearby lake as my husband loves to fish!
...a blend of young, middle, and older people
....and of, course, open welcoming, and friendly people!

We may also be interested in a "retirement community," so we would appreciate feed back on them, too.

We appreciate any help you can give us!

Thanks! Kaye

The budget might be a little limiting. But, I would look at places in Gallatin near the lake. I don't think you could buy anything huge with that budget, but I think you could find a reasonably sized house in a quiet neighborhood. Hendersonville would be good too...but it tends to be more expensive...but not out of the question. I live in East Nashville as well and travel to my sister's house a lot (she lives near the lake between Hendersonville and Gallatin). It takes me about 25 mins to get to her house and it's an easy trip up Ellington Parkway/65/Vietnam Vets.

That would be my recommendation. Obviously, you should check places out before you commit...we all have our preferences.

Good Luck

If you're willing to live up to an hour from Nashville that would open up a lot more possibilities--and a lot more bang for your buck.
