Just one year after launching Nashville International Airport's first nonstop flight to San Francisco International Airport (SFO), United Airlines today announced it's adding an additional daily flight to SFO.

Southwest has announced two new additional nonstop destinations from Nashville: Cancun and Milwaukee. Southwest will become the third airline to offer nonstop service between Nashville and Cancun; the other two are American and Delta.

Nashville was the country's fastest-growing mid-sized airport in 2016. Growing at 11.2 percent, BNA ended 2016 with 12.9 million passengers and is expected to add another million in 2017.

That would put it ahead of Austin and within reach of Saint Louis.

Is that just departing passengers? BNA already averages 35,000 total passengers per day.

I believe they were expecting 24,000 to depart on Monday, and 20,000 on Tuesday.
