Ah, thanks for that. At the time I read it, the release just said "Tampa Bay" which I wrongly assumed to be TPA...the main airport for the area.

For those going to the beaches, PIE is actually a little more convenient than TPA. But I still prefer TPA. I like the trains.

British Airways flight 222 had its inaugural departure this morning from Nashville to London-Heathrow. Among dignitaries on board were Governor Bill Haslam and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe who will be spending the next week on an economic development trip to several European countries. There are 71,000 Tennesseans who work for 560 European-owned corporations in the state.

The nonstop flight from BNA to LHR takes about 8 hours and has a special introductory r/t fare of $855. The aircraft is a Boeing 787 Dreamliner which has larger windows, special air filtration to reduce jet lag, and flat beds for business class travelers.

Doesn't it leave tonight for LHR? we have tickets in June and departure is an evening flight.

You're right, it leaves tonight, as do most trans-Atlantic flights. Sorry about that. The London-Nashville flight, however, has already taken off and is scheduled to arrive at BNA on time at 5:45 this afternoon.

Arriving passengers on BA's inaugural flight from London were greeted at BNA with a live performance by Fisk Jubilee Singers, who had originally performed for Queen Victoria in London in 1873, and each passenger was given a "Welcome to Nashville" gift bag that included Goo Goo Clusters, whiskey, and a poster from Hatch Show Print.
