Hello all,

Looking for s housing in a variety of areas, and my wife I and I like the area near the Hermitage/Old Hickory area with zoning for Andrew Jackson Elementary. Obviously I-40 is the obvious access to VUMC , but how about Lebanon Pike to Vandy MC as an alternate route? I'll be getting into work between 7 to 7:30 am most mornings, with the PM commute being variable, usually leaving 5:30 to 6:30. Is this a nice alternative or primary option for commuting in addition to I-40? Or is there something I'm overlooking? Estimated commute times?

Thanks!

It's a very good alternate route, in fact, I prefer Lebanon Pike.

About a half hour in the morning I would think. All depends on what side streets you take to get over to Vandy,

Thanks for the input! Any recommendations about which side streets would be best? I'm slowly learning the Nashville area but insider tips are great.

Easiest route is to take the MCS then pick up the shuttle bus to Vandy. The route from downtown uses Lower Broadway changing to West End then changing again depending where in Vandyland you need to be. May use 21st ave to get to Hillsboro & hospital side. May use 31st then turn left for the same location. May use Natchez Trace or another side street in Vandyland.

When Lower Broad is blocked due to an event maybe Korea Veterans Boulevard is open to 8th ave (hate the roundabout) then turn on Broadway.

I would take the Korean Veterans Blvd down to the roundabout. Then over to Broadway from there and turn left. Veer off to the left & take West End out to Vanderbilt.

You could also go across Chestnut Street & come into the area via Edgehill Ave or Wedgewood.
