Anyone living in South Murf off 231, what do you think about the approval to build big box retail here? It was approved that 25 acres of big box retail will be built on 231 and County Farm road. I for one, am sorta sad about it. I love this side of Murf. It still has a small town feel. I don't think we need anymore big box retail in Murf period. There is plenty already!

I don't live in that particular area of town, but I know some people that live just south of there, in Christiana, and they would welcome another grocery store, shopping center. I've heard through the grapevine that a Wal-Mart might be built there.

Hi UNT_Eagle,

There are two grocery stores out here already. Food Lion and Kroger.
I heard that it was Target that was going in. I vote for them! I love Target and it would be nice having it so close, but I still don't want this area to change and get too built up. I guess it is inevitable though.

It's definately inevitable, just a question of when it will get built. A SuperTarget would be great over there!

They just opened one in Smyrna and I know there is one on I-24 on the way to Nashville (okay, off I-24 ). Would they open another one so close?

Due to the recent growth explosion in M'Boro, I wouldn't be surprised if they did put a Target over there.

Isn't there already a Target in Murfreesboro? Is the one on Old Fort Pkwy not big enough or something to service all of M'boro?

I'm sure it is, but with all the new stuff going in the 'Boro' right now, it could happen.

When I was looking at another house in this area, they told me Target. Who knows, but there is a Walmart not to far from here too on Rutherford Blvd.

Stores like that tend to build close enough together to blanket an area and own it so to speak. Grocery stores do it as well. We have two Walmarts, why not 2 Targets? LOL!
